I want to start a garden of herbs and vegetables in my backyard, but do not know what will grow best in New York?
I live in a brownstone Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn. I realize that a certain patch of grass in our backyard receives too much light (about 8-10 hours, depending). Never I had a garden, but I always wanted one and the food is getting so expensive and I love to cook. So, I wonder what kind of fruit and vegetables grow best Brooklyn, NY. Any ideas?
As mentioned above Looking up your USDA zone will be of great help. Due to the proximity to New York City water and City bouroghs your car is probably one area 7a 7b perhaps in the densely bulid up areas of the city. Try to find the "new" 2006 USDA map, because it is based more information in more cities longer peroid of time giving a specific area. chives make great potted plants and will come up every year in all knowledge. Most are spring and early summer when plants droop and dry it again in New York City humidity and heat of summer, but will come up year that is safe. rosemary make large plants to the ground and survive a winter in New York without much problem. if the plant in an area where the winter wind that damaged, but will return. They may not survive in pots outdoors all winter. The next will be replanted or brought by frost. Basilio do shrubs large and do not grow too high, but if they do the pruning can keep it formed. Basil must be broung out aroung in New York and back to mid-October in New York or early November, according to the first frost of the year. Tomatoes, cherry tomatoes are especially large and although the cherry tomatoes look bad by leaving flowers Agust Neve and you might pick up a maximum of 100 tomatoes a week out of a large plant in September. Pumpkins make ornamental plants for areas that are wide open and matures in around September in your area.

How long should I wait to start a garden after herbicides?
I would like to start my own backyard garden, but I know the lawn (in the past) been treated with herbicides and pesticides, possibly. I remember hearing a rule "on how long you to wait for the ground to get rid of these before we can plant a garden chemical free?
It all depends on the herbicide or pesticide. Some require months to dissipate, and others like herbicide Round-up took less than a week. If you know what chemical was used to make a research on it or go to your local garden center and watch local label.

Do you have to bring my iPod on haunted houses would make a difference?
Lol .. stupid question but I'm going to Howl and Shout this weekend I think that (Bush Gardens Tampa, Florida, became a Halloween event. The haunted houses, people scare you throughout the park, shows, etc) I was the last year, and only went into two homes. I promised my parents this year that he would enter as many houses as possible, and I know that after a few I'll be 100% terrified. So I was wondering, do you think that listening to my favorite music in a haunted house, I calm down a bit? Or do I look stupid? : P thanks.
hahaha try. I think it would be fun if you like they were listening to music and someone tries to reach behind you and you do not realize hahaha. would probably very confusing. I can not try to hurt

My ex-girlfriend and I recently started talking again. I really want to try to make things work so I like the flowers to be delivered to it. I obviously go to a local store and give them in person, but not go to school anywhere near each other so that poses a problem. I wonder if anyone knows of any place they have used before that are good? They'd have to be sent to Rochester, NY and my price range between $ 30 - $ 100
